2011 Annual Dessert Throwdown Went Down!

We forgot to post the event on our blog, but the 2nd Annual Sugar High Showdown with Penn Gastronomy went down last weekend before the Thanksgiving break.  This time all three of us were there to help out with the judging.  It’s a hard job, but someone has to taste all the desserts and figure out how they taste! It was a great event and we had a great time. Everyone did a great job again this year.  We can already tell that it’s going to get harder and harder each year to choose the winners.  This year it went to: Judge’s Choice: Indian Spiced Sticky Toffee Pudding, Kimberly Schreiber Audience Favorite: Chai Tres Leches Cake with Almond Brittle; Crystal Lu For those that missed the event, check out the food porn here!

Sweet! We’re on TV Again!!! “Sugar High” Viewing Party Tomorrow!

Wow!  It’s finally here!  For those of you at the University City Night Market by the Food Trust, you might remember our truck being filmed for a show on the Food Network.  If you were lucky, you might have even been served by the ace of cakes Duff Goldman!

Well folks, the show is finally going to air the Philly episode!  If you can, tune in on Friday to the Food Network’s Sugar High at 10:30 PM.  If you can’t (I know Friday nights you all can be out and about), then don’t worry.  You can catch it at 1:30 AM or wait until Sunday at 6 PM.  Some of us are camera shy, but you’ll see our dear Chef Tang front and center.  Let us know what you think of the episode!

BUT we don’t want to celebrate alone! For people who don’t have plans yet on Friday, come watch the episode with us!  We’ll be joining our other amazing Philly dessert folks Brown Betty and Rim Cafe to watch the episode live.  We would love to see any of our good friends there and I know we’ll have a good time.  Just come on down to Rim Cafe at 1172 South 9th Street (at the corner of 9th & Federal) around 10:00 PM.  We’ll get situated and even try to give ya’ll some desserts! And for those with bigger appetites, I’m totally up for walking a block to Pat’s cheesesteaks. See you there! =)
