fling week has arrived on Penn campus…and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it!

spring fling 2012 “Never Tasted So Sweet!”

find us on college green on Saturday (4/15) from 8pm-12am.  we are coming with a truck full of our French Macarons and Penn is treating YOU students for all of your hard work so far this year!

Therefore for today, we’re gonna give away small bags of our mini macarons!  They’ll resemble the size of the macarons you get elsewhere, just not as big as our normal ones.  Of course, there’s only a limited amount and in recognition for being in the top 20, most likely the first 20 customers will get to enjoy these little free treats.  However we want to know more about you too.

So it’s not just the first 20 customers, it’s the first 20 customers to bring us their list of their top 20 favorite things in this world.  I know it’s hard to think of such a long list, but try your best! And don’t worry, Sugar Philly doesn’t have to be on that list.  We just like you and want to know what you like!

And for those that are curious, here is our list:

1. GOD
2. Our girlfriends (if we have one)
3. Smell of fresh brewed morning coffee
4. High fives, the really high ones
5. Time to lay down and look at the clouds
6. Orchids, sometimes roses
7. The sound of opening a new can of tennis balls
8. NY chicken and rice (you know from where)
9. Old couples holding hands
10. Cats, especially ones named Simba
11. Kids with big cheeks for squeezing
12. Laughing with friends until your sides hurt
13. Family holidays
14. Gifts for no reason
15. Grass under our toes
16. Group pictures where everyone is jumping at the same time
17. Paesano’s and Sketch Burger (you’re both so tasty)
18. Singing and dancing in the car (safely)
19. Sugar Philly of course
20. YOU!!!

Actually we don’t know what this means.  In fact, we don’t even know what to say. We’re speechless honestly.  This is a total surprise and we would never have imagined it.  It was only yesterday that Yahoo named us a top truck and now more than a year later this.

What we can say though is this isn’t about us.  It’s all about you; all of you who talk about us, tweet about us, and enjoy us.  Chef Dan will definitely tell you there is nothing better than when our customers are smiling when they bite into our desserts.  We are just blessed to have all of you support us. Because of all of you, we are so honored to be among such great company. This has definitely made it a sweet day and we’ll try to make it sweet for you guys too.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY EVERYONE!

Team Sugar Philly actually was able to offer a dessert making class at the wonderful COOK kitchen started by Audrey Claire. The kitchen (and obviously the people) were amazing not to mention the beautiful windows to see people passing by, great collection of cooking books on the shelves, and the best little pantry of kitchen essentials (we miss you glass milk carton!). But what is a perfect setting without the perfect star. Chef Tang was like a celebrity chef blazing through 3 of our recipes and a few of our secrets while sharing a few stories. Most importantly though we hope everyone had a good time, learned something new, and got a little taste of heaven.

We aren’t the only ones that teach at COOK though! They have amazing classes and some sell out quick. Their January schedule just got released so check out more classes from COOK here.

We forgot to post the event on our blog, but the 2nd Annual Sugar High Showdown with Penn Gastronomy went down last weekend before the Thanksgiving break.  This time all three of us were there to help out with the judging.  It’s a hard job, but someone has to taste all the desserts and figure out how they taste! It was a great event and we had a great time. Everyone did a great job again this year.  We can already tell that it’s going to get harder and harder each year to choose the winners.  This year it went to: Judge’s Choice: Indian Spiced Sticky Toffee Pudding, Kimberly Schreiber Audience Favorite: Chai Tres Leches Cake with Almond Brittle; Crystal Lu For those that missed the event, check out the food porn here!
